Stroke
Physiotherapists at Manchester Physio in Sale are experienced in treating people affected by a stroke.
What causes a stroke?
A stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts causing a bleed (haemorrhagic stroke), or when a blood clot in an artery occludes the flow of blood to the brain (ischaemic stroke). There is not necessarily one specific cause for a stroke, but there are many contributing risk factors, including:
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- Excessive alcohol intake
- High cholesterol levels
- Smoking
- Hyperthyroidism
What should you expect when you attend Manchester Physio?

Following your assessment your physiotherapist will diagnose your problems, and you and your physiotherapist (along with your family and carers if appropriate), will create shared, realistic goals before treatment commences.
