"I had been having back problems for years and tried so many different treatments but with no success. I saw a physio at Manchester Physio and felt an improvement after just 2 sessions. I would recommend anyone needing a physiotherapist here!"

Wrist pain

Wrist pain is regularly treated at Manchester Physio in Sale.

What causes wrist pain?

There are many causes of wrist pain, including:
  • Tendonitis
  • Wrist sprain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Arthritis
  • Fractures

What will happen at your first appointment with Manchester Physio?

Subjective assessment

This assessment involves your physiotherapist taking a detailed history of your problem, asking questions about:
  • The onset and cause of the pain
  • The nature, location and behaviour of pain
  • Any medication currently being taken
  • Past medical history
  • Work and leisure activities
Objective assessment

The objective assessment is a physical examination which looks at:
  • Passive and active range of movement
  • Muscle strength
  • Palpation
  • Reflexes
  • Sensation
  • Special tests
The physiotherapist will then diagnose your problem based on the combined assessment findings, and then discuss your best route forward to help the problem. If physiotherapy is suitable to treat the condition then treatment will commence there and then. Exercises and advice will also be provided to the patient to perform between physiotherapy sessions to maximise recovery.

Treatment

Treatment methods will vary depending on the problem. Common treatments include:
  • Strengthening
  • Stretching
  • Anti-inflammatory medication
  • Rest and activity modification
  • Wrist support / Taping
  • Ice and heat application
